Redundancy and decentralization in artificial swarms can make their operation robust to failures and disturbances, enable the use of sacrificial platforms, and can conceal the system's mission to an adversary. While these attributes have been acknowledged and validated, we do not have yet a complete understanding of how biological systems and multi-agent technological artifacts can interact with humans. This workshop will bring together experts in the fields of control of multi-agent systems, human-robot and human-swarm interaction and cyber-physical systems, to discuss the state-of-the-art of human-swarm interaction theories and developments, as well as identify specific challenges on the path toward seamless interaction and control interfaces between humans and multi-agent systems.

- Control and coordination of artificial swarm systems
- Human-in-the-loop control of multi-agent systems
- Modeling and analysis of human-robot and human-swarm interaction
- Mixed-initiative paradigms for human-swarm interaction
- Safety in swarm behavior and human-robot interaction
- Bio-inspired designs and architectures for artificial swarms
- Brain-Swarm interaction and control interfaces
- Gesture-based human-swarm interaction
- Heterogeneous swarms
- Machine learning applications to human-swarm interaction
- Task and motion planning involving robotic swarms
- Human-supervised field deployment and real-world applications of swarm technologies
Prospective participants are invited to submit short papers of up to 2 pages (including references). The formatting requirements of the short paper follow that of IEEE/ICRA contributed papers. All contributions will be reviewed by the organizers, and upon acceptance, the work will be presented as a poster in one of the workshop Interactive Poster Sessions. Authors of accepted short papers are expected to be present in order to present the associated poster, while video or live demonstrations are encouraged during the Interactive Poster Sessions of the workshop. Authors of selected contributions may be invited to submit full-length manuscripts to be included after independent peer-review in a special issue, planned to be subsequently published in the open-access journal Frontiers in Robotics and AI: Multi-Robot Systems.
